A reminder that you are all invited to the Outsiders Annual Picnic in Reading.
The Picnic will be held on:
Saturday 8th August, 2-5pm, Christchurch Meadows, Reading.

– Outsiders member Stamford Collis will be performing a set of songs he has composed.
– The chance to chill out with other members of Outsiders
– Enjoy a lovely spot by the Thames.

Look for our marquee/large tent!
COMING BY CAR:
– Parking: Use Hills Meadow car park (RG4 8DH). https://www.reading.gov.uk/vehicles-roads-and-transport/parking/car-parks/hills-meadow-car-park/.
– Height restriction – 2.05m or 6’9″. Contact us for access if vehicles over height (members@outsiders.org).
– There are 298 spaces, including 12 disabled spaces.
– Parking costs money, unless you have a blue badge.
– It’s a 5-minute walk to the picnic site.
WALK TO THE MARQUEE:
– Exit the car park towards the riverside.
– Turn right and walk underneath Reading Bridge.
– Follow the path on your left, right next to the River Thames, for a few minutes.
– You should then see our marquee.
COMING BY TRAIN (to Reading Station):
– Walk from Station: It’s about a 10-minute walk to the marquee.
– Exit: Take the exit towards the riverside.
– Vastern Road: Walk towards the busy, four-lane Vastern Road (it has a traffic light crossing).
– Norman Place: Turn right into Norman Place (it’s a small side road). Go straight down this road.
– Thames Path: At the end of Norman Place, you’ll be on the Thames Path by the river.
– ChristChurch Bridge: Turn right and walk over the ChristChurch walking bridge.
– Marquee: Once you’re across the bridge, look right, and you should see our marquee!
We will have signs to help guide you once you’re close.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
– Food & Drink: Please bring your own picnic (food and drink) to enjoy. BYO alcohol if you fancy that but we ask you kindly not to get drunk.
– Avoid bringing drinking glasses please.
– There is a nearby Tea Barge and coffee van which also sell snacks.
– You might also decide to use an app to have food delivered!
TOILETS:
– There is one accessible toilet on site.
– If you’re coming by train, you might find it easier to use the toilets at the train station.
– There are Changing Places toilets with hoists in Reading: https://www.changing-places.org/find.
ATMOSPHERE: This is a family-friendly event. It’s in a public area, and there’s a play park nearby.
